SHORT COURSE - design technology

As an educator, I am always looking for ways to enhance the learning experience of my students. One way I would love to do this is by developing a short course for a school. The short course is a curriculum component in Junior Cycle, designed for approximately 100 hours of student engagement, providing opportunities for schools to broaden the range of educational experiences they offer in Junior Cycle.

In today's digital age, knowledge of graphic design principles and software is increasingly important. Students who complete this short course will have a valuable skill set that can benefit them in future careers or hobbies. The potential for this course is vast, as it could be used to enhance other subject areas, such as English or media studies, where students could create posters or design layouts for newspapers.

Furthermore, with the increasing role of technology in education, it is essential to incorporate information and communication technology (ICT) into the curriculum. This short course provides a perfect opportunity to do so, as it requires the use of design software and tools that will help students develop their ICT skills.

In conclusion, developing a short course in graphic design has enormous potential for schools. It is a rewarding process that takes time but is best done collaboratively with other teachers. I believe this short course would be a valuable addition to any school's curriculum, and I look forward to seeing its positive impact on students' learning.
