SITE LEARNING

As an educator, I believe that site learning is an essential component of education. I am passionate about taking my students out of the classroom and into the real world to gain practical experiences and learn from firsthand encounters.

One of the most impactful site learning experiences I have organized for my students was taking them to different galleries and museums around the city. We visited the National Gallery of Ireland, National History Museum, IMMA, Hugh Lane, and Stoney Road Press. By seeing the artwork up close and hearing the stories behind them, my students were able to develop a deeper appreciation and understanding of art, culture, and history that cannot be replicated in a classroom.

To enhance this experience even further, I also organized a talk with the world-famous Sean Sully in his Sean Scully room within the Hugh Lane Gallery. This was a very memorable experience for my students, who were able to meet and interact with an expert in the field. Hearing from Sean Sully firsthand provided my students with an even more immersive experience that enriched their understanding of the art and its significance.

Overall, I believe that site learning is an excellent way to enhance students' understanding of a subject or topic. By taking students out of the classroom and into the real world, we can provide them with practical experiences that can have a lasting impact on their education and personal growth.
